Software Team Leader

We are actively recruiting for a Software Team Leader -  skill in leading others to achieve in a Software Development environment is much more important than being the best Developer yourself.  

The C4I and Cyber Business Unit with in Elbit Systems UK (ESUK) is delivering critical Command and Control Systems to the UK MOD. ESUK has recently been advised of successful selection for a CAT B Defence Programme delivering a dismounted C4ISR targeting solution to DE&S on behalf of the British Army. 

Location - Bristol  

Direct Reports – Software Developers/Testers (Scrum Team) 

  • British National  

  • No Dual Nationalities (ITAR Constraint)  

Role Summary

The Software Team Leader is managing a software team and is responsible for: -  

  • Writing software development plans 

  • Deriving software requirements (initiatives, epics and stories) 

  • Producing functional P2P & web-based software products 

  • Conducting software integration tests and trials 

  • Supporting software/hardware integration tests and trials reports 

  • Problem solving during tests and trials 

  • Team Leader including line management  

  • Any additional tasks to ensure the success of the role and support to the Business Unit and Engineering Function within ESUK.   

ESUK is a close-knit team, with team strengths coming from different cultures and experiences, and so a good communicator and manager is important, along with experience of managing high performing teams – under time and delivery pressures, along with the added ingredient of location changes. 

 

Candidate Profile: Success in this role is likely to be based on 

  • Team Leadership / Scrum Master experience 

  • Able to produce high-quality software architectures and designs 

  • Identify, prioritise and execute tasks in the software development life cycle (ISO12207 / Agile Methodology) 

  • Develop tools and applications by producing clean, efficient, effective and robust code 

  • Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting 

  • Review and debug code – both your own and others 

  • Ensure software is up to date with latest technologies 

  • Competent in problem solving and analytical techniques in a methodical and logical manner to solve development and integration challenges 

  • Development of appropriate software test approaches, plans and procedures 

  • Presenting formally at Test Readiness and Design Reviews / Integration events 

  • Integration, formal verification and acceptance testing 

  • Support and development of Software Engineers by5t3   providing advice, coaching and mentoring opportunities 

  • Producing technical progress reports and test/trials reports 

  • Software Tools - MS Office, IBM DOORS, Azure DevOps (previously TFS), JIRA and Web Development software tools. Fluent with functional, imperative and object-oriented languages 

  • ISO Standards - ISO12207 (Software), ISO61508 (Safety Critical Systems)
