About the Role:
Here at Babcock International we are currently looking for an experienced quality assurance professional to join us as a Senior QA Engineer to ensure the highest level of performance within the supply network, Support Business. You will actively support suppliers to continually meet the exacting specifications, standards, quality requirements, lead times and responsiveness expected by the support business.
Enhancing performance of suppliers of strategic importance, actively resolve issues leading to under-performance by being an effective internal partner with the support Business ensuring compliance with the necessary Quality and Supply Chain protocols.
Actively drive the development of a strong Quality culture including, leading and facilitating Continuous Improvement activities internally and with Suppliers.
You will lead and be responsible for the supplier quality status and audit schedule and associated activity for support.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and lead the Quality Supplier development programme within support.
• Tracking the performance of suppliers in order to identify priority engagement across all appropriate deliverables
• Actively engaging with suppliers to agree improvement plans and ensuring plans are engaged to achieve expected performance.
• Build relationships with key suppliers to reduce the potential for problems.
• Delivering the on-boarding and development of new suppliers, from a quality perspective and ensuring expected performance from strategic suppliers.
• Ensuring suppliers comply with all Support contractual and purchase order requirements.
• Partner with the Programmes Business Streams to identify supply chain and supplier current/likely issues and work to resolve.
• Develop and lead appropriate supplier engagement and development processes and KPIs and ensure compliance.
• Report as appropriate to the support business on issues, status and corrective and preventive plans in order to maintain awareness of supplier development activity.
• Identify risks and opportunities associated with Support processes, products and services including potential impacts associated with legal and regulatory non-compliance, highlighting these to the business.
• Represent the company at supplier’s premises.
Essential Previous Experience:
• To have extensive experience of managing Quality Assurance and Quality Control within the Engineering sector, including Supply Chain.
• Proven expertise and application of problem solving and/or lean tools.
• To have experience of change management and improvement programmes with suppliers.
• To have knowledge of MOD quality systems and requirements.
• Experience of Quality Management auditing in a technical/manufacturing environment.
• Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes including welding, machining, NDT, pressure testing and electrical assembly.
• Able to review technical documentation, with a good eye for detail.
• Able to understand engineering drawings, procedures and specifications of all disciplines.
• Able to communicate effectively and have an aptitude for learning new techniques, methods and principles.
• Capable of self-management, prioritising, multi-tasking and working to established schedules and budgets.
• Have a flexible approach to the workload and the ability to work to tight timescales.
• Driving licence.
Qualifications:
Educated to at least degree level or equivalent with a relevant manufacturing Supply Chain or engineering discipline.
Experience of Quality Management in an engineering, supply chain, technical or manufacturing environment.
Experience in a Supply Chain Quality leadership role.
Recognised professional qualification
Chartered Member or significant progress towards Chartered Member of the CQI
Qualified ISO9001 Lead Auditor
