Security Advisor - Controller

The Role 

  

Location -  Bristol 

 

Reports to -  Head of Security 

 

Direct Reports -  None 

 

Security Clearance requirements: - SC Clearable 

 

Responsibilities include:  

 

  • Carry out full spectrum of Security Controller responsibilities and support the security accreditation of new sites including advising on physical and personnel security measures. 

  • Be the ‘go-to’ point of contact for security enquiries from programmes. Understand, collaborate and advise on program/bid related security compliance requirements. Prepare security artefacts for programmes e.g. Security Management Plans. 

  • Ensure organisational adherence with HMG Security Policy Framework requirements and other relevant Defence Security policies.  

  • Support the development and implementation of security initiatives designed to safeguard our people, places, information and reputation. 

  • Support in developing threat/ risk-based security incident response plans, including with external agencies. Support incident response.  

  • Forge and maintain excellent working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 

  • Ensure a robust security culture exists within the company. Provide staff training and advice as required. Deliver the security induction training for new employees. 

  • Support in the management and supervision of contracted security resources 

 

  • Perform audits for the programs/bids including capturing security resource requirements.  

  • Assist in the reporting and investigation of security incidents. 

  • Any additional tasks to ensure the success of the role and support to the Security function within ESUK.

Experience 

 

  • Previous experience working within a UK Government security environment or Defence sector and familiarity with HMG Security Policy Framework 

  • Experience with handling material and managing Security aspects of an accredited facility at the highest level of security classification 

  • Experience of working within Defence programmes and List X environments 

  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a high tempo environment with minimum supervision across a broad spectrum of tasks 

  • Demonstrated practical experience of security problem solving – threat identification, finding and implementing solutions to mitigate. 

  • Previous experience working as a Security Controller 

  • Experience of Security audit/ compliance in accordance with ISO 27001 or other recognisable frameworks.

  • Good planning, organisational, administrative and presentational skills 

  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office Suite) 

  • Highly organised, self-motivated Team Player
