Overview
The EES (Electronics & Embedded Systems) business unit has world class experts in the provision of real-time embedded systems, specialising in safety critical control systems. To continue to grow the business we are now looking for Principal Electronics Engineers to join our growing team.
This opportunity is Marine working for one of our defence suppliers in the UK and is Hybrid at the client site based in Barnstaple (2-3 days onsite). Opportunities are available on either a Permanent or Contract (Inside IR35) basis but in either case you must be prepared for travel to client location.
Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the Electrical and Electronic Engineering delivery of a variety of Electro-mechanical Systems working to agreed cost, time and quality.
- Provide technical leadership to a small multi-disciplinary team of Engineers on specific projects
- Seek and share good practice and knowledge locally to continuously improve own practices
- Support and facilitate reviews and approvals of electrical & electronic designs in accordance with business and industry standards
- Provide input to Company standards pertaining to Electrical and Electronic Engineering including calculations, CAD models, manufacturing drawings & schematics and technical reports
- Support products through manufacturing, assembly, installation and service life
Qualifications
- Degree/HND in Electronics Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- A lower-level qualification such as HNC would be acceptable with significant demonstrable relevant experience performing the same/similar work.
Essential skills
- Lead the design and develop Analogue and Digital Electronic Circuits
- Experience of PCB design from Schematic capture to PCB layout using Altium
- Experience in the design and manufacture of Electro-mechanical Systems
- Ability to follow a methodical/systematic approach to analyse and solve problems, identifying key facts and breaking down complex information to components parts
- Full lifecycle experience from requirements decomposition to acceptance and user sign off on multi-disciplinary programmes
- Experience of requirements capture, analysis, V&V and configuration management
- Able to produce clear and concise technical documentation
- Demonstrable ability to plan and execute technical assignments
- Experience of development within the Product lifecycle
Experience
- 7 years’ experience in digital or analogue electronics design within a structured development environment.
What do I need before I apply
- Candidate should be able/prepared to work hybrid at our client’s site in Barnstaple
- Eligible for SC level Security Clearance (can start on BPSS Clearance).
- Due to security restrictions candidate shall be a UK National.
- Able and willing to travel occasionally within the UK and Overseas as required
