ICT Engineer

Counter Terrorism Policing Stand: S47 Platinum Sponsor

Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) is a collaboration of the five South East police forces, and works with the UK Intelligence community to help protect the public and our national security.

To support this important work, CTPSE have established an ICT Team who are involved in a range of technical tasks from every day user support to the discovery and development of new bespoke specialist solutions for trailblazing technologies in policing.

The ICT Engineer role is to provide technical IT services to CTPSE staff across the region in a diverse range of functions.  The focus is in areas including desktop and user support, network management, server maintenance and project work.

The role holder will need to work independently to undertake regular regional site work. These activities include and are not limited to; the need to access the undersides of desks for equipment rewiring, work in cool and noisy server room environments and, from time to time, lift heavy boxes in and out of vehicles and up and down stairs to facilitate the delivery of equipment to sites.  Additionally, the post holder may be required to use hand and power tools, to work at height, and above or beneath floor voids to access cable trays.  PPE will be provided for these activities.

This role will be key to ensuring that CTPSE has the technical infrastructure in place that it needs to deliver the vital service that it provides to the communities within the South East and across the United Kingdom.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of supporting and maintaining core infrastructure solutions including Windows Desktop and Server environments, and IP networking.  They will have experience in planning, designing, building and delivering these solutions to agreed specifications, and are comfortable working without direct supervision.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a small and dynamic, but growing, team, where we can support your development and learning as you embrace new technologies.

This role will require the post holder to travel frequently around the Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire and Thames Valley policing areas using provided transport, therefore a UK driving licence is essential.

Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary to pass and maintain vetting level DV together with a number of enhanced security checks.  In order to achieve this, you must be a British National and have resided in the UK for the past ten years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.
