The Role
As a subject matter expert for Data Protection, you will support QinetiQ in understanding and discharging their data protection obligations. You will lead in managing QinetiQ’s record of Processing, portfolio of Privacy Impact Assessments as well as supporting Procurement and Commercial Team by and undertaking due diligence on suppliers. You will also support the Group Head of Data Protection in providing advice, negotiating and approving Processing Agreements in contracts where required.
Additionally, the role will monitor the implementation of QinetiQ’s Group Policies for Data Protection by providing advice and undertaking Assurance Activities to confirm the business compliance with the requirements.
Day-to-day, you will:
- Provide advice on the application of data protection policy, process and compliance.
- Manage all the QinetiQ’ Group Companies’ Records of Processing ensuring that all processing activities are documented, are up-to-date, are reviewed regularly and there is a good understanding of how each entity can be compliant
- Undertake all Legitimate Interest Assessment (LIA) as specified on the Record of Processing and on an ad hoc basis as required for new processing activities for approval by the Group Head of Data Protection
- Review, advise and approve Data Protection Impact Assessments; ensuring that the activity being assessed will be compliant with Data Protection legislation
- Manage Data Subject Access Requests and discharge them accordingly and within the statutory timescales
- Monitor developments in data protection law and good practice and identifying opportunities for improvement in company policy and process.
- Conduct investigations following data breaches and incidents, offering both containment advice and advice to mitigate the risk in future
This role is full-time, 37 hours per week where you will be on site at Farnborough 2 days per week.
Experience of the Data Protection Manager:
- Demonstrable experience as a Data Protection Officer in a listed or large company
- Extensive experience with engagement with Regulators
- Experience of Data Protection Act 2018 compliance and in particular, advising on Security Services and Law Enforcement
- Knowledge of Data Protection Legislation in other countries such as Canada, US and Australia would be advantageous
Qualifications of the Data Protection Manager:
- Certified Information Privacy Profession (CIPP) or equivalent qualification in Data Protection
