The Role

As a DevOps Infrastructure Team Leader you will be responsible for the efficient planning, provisioning, installation/configuration, and operations of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure in a collaborative software and systems engineering environment.
The software development environment is currently a green physical infrastructure only environment and we require talented, self-starter engineers to work with our global parent to build the environment ready for accreditation and use.
As a team leader, not only will you have technical expertise, but you will work alongside our engineers, product owners and stakeholders to lead and steer the technical conversations and ensure that what we build is fit for purpose.
Working with our Engineering, Development and IT teams, you’ll be responsible for the tactical implementation, as well as building and running the DevOps Infrastructure team.
This is an exciting opportunity to lay the foundations for the infrastructure, tools, and services powering our next generation of software and systems development across the entire organisation.
Responsibilities include:

building and setting up new development tools and infrastructure

understanding the needs of stakeholders and conveying this to developers

working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes

ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats

identifying technical problems and developing software updates and ‘fixes’
-
working with software developers and software engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended
-
Ensuring that the organisation’s data and infrastructure are protected by enabling the appropriate security controls

Creating and maintaining technical documentation and knowledge base
-
Any additional tasks to ensure the success of the role and support to the Business Unit within ESUK.

Person Specification

Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Strong attention to detail with an analytical mind and outstanding problem-solving skills.

At least 3+ years hands-on experience in infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or software engineering staff member

Python, bash, and scripting fundamentals

Windows and Linux system administration

Virtualisation technology – VMWare, Nutanix

Git, Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Artifactory

DevSecOps / Software Development environments
